E-waste disposal

Any IT equipment or component that cannot be reused or resold e.g. CRT monitors are disposed of in accordance with European and UK environmental legislation.

Recycle IT 4u channels such e-waste via Sims Recycling Solutions, which has the capacity to recycle over 800,000 tonnes of e-waste globally. They hold Environment Agency Waste Carrier (CB/DP3695ML) and Waste Management licences for WEEE transfer and disposal.

Each item from Recycle IT 4u is securely destroyed by Sims in processes designed to meet WEEE Directive and Hazardous Waste Regulations. Their commitment to responsible environmental practice is evidenced by ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification. These standards are further supplemented by certification to ISO9001 Quality Management Systems and OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management systems.

The process animation below shows how waste electrical and electronic equipment is typically dismantled and recycled for materials recycling at Sims Recycling Solutions’ WEEE recycling plants in Billingham, Daventry, Newport and Manchester.

Sims Recycling Solutions also operates specialist facilities for recycling cathode ray tubes from computer monitors, which can be viewed in the following animation.
